Saddle up Allen!
A couple of weeks ago I sent a newsletter on “making things happen”, it’s here if you missed it. Well it’s all happening!
Friday
A little spot of networking, meeting up with a graphic designer (Creativa) and discussing our respective target markets. Followed by setting up for the set up class on Saturday.
Saturday
Set Up Class
A student of note was Steve, he brought along a 5 string bass and an acoustic bass. I took him through the process, but of course being a bass, I didn’t have a notched straight edge to fit, so straight edge across the frets it was. The other surprise was the additional B string. This was so thick that we almost ran out of space on the saddle adjustment to set the intonation!
All about the bass!
Happy student
Additional work
Steve’s acoustic bass was a different kettle of fish!
If you look closely you’ll see the G string appears to be bending the saddle. In fact the saddle is upside down! and when we took the strings off and pulled the saddle out, it split into 4 pieces!
Steve left the instrument with me and if you follow me on the “Insta” or is the “Gram”? you’ll see the replacement work that happened over the last couple of days.
A bridge too far!
ready for delivery
Sunday - Wednesday
Father’s Day, so not much work. Chocolate, alcohol and music instead. Then the usual weekly activities.
Thursday
Return the acoustic bass to Steve
Networking group - Three very warm leads and a new Instagram follow (thanks Road Worn)
A catch up to discuss insurance with my broker, leading to another enthusiastic referral to his band mates tonight!
Finally, I dropped into the Rock Shop in Lower Hutt to drop off business cards and the Set Up Class poster. Next class will be Saturday 7th September, followed by 14th.
As the saying goes, “Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it!”
Have a great week,
Richard
