-
Level, Crown and Polish Class
$400
Learn how to bring new life to your guitar.
Eventually, playing your guitar will wear the frets down. This happens unevenly along the fretboard, and so the answer is to re-level the frets, then re-crown them to provide a narrow intonation point and finally polish all the tool marks out and leave then shining.
-
Full re-fret
$2000
Over two days, learn how to safely remove the old frets from your guitar, clean and prepare the slots and fretboard, radius and cut new frets, fit the new frets to your fretboard. Once your new frets are installed, you'll learn how to bevel and dress the fret ends and finally how to level, crown and polish them.
After a restring and set up, the result will be a guitar feeling and playing better then when it left the factory!
* Cleaning and oiling the fretboard removes built up dirt and oils from your playing of the instrument. Cleaning will dry the unfinished wood of the fretboard and so oiling with a non drying oil will rejuvenate the natural wood. This makes it more pleasant to play and to look at. Fretboard oiling is not possible on lacquered fretboards, such as maple, and cleaning is all that is required. Only plant based non-drying oil is used, as oils such as boiled linseed or tung will leave a surface finish and tend to build up along the edge of the frets. 'Lemon oil' is a cleaning agent made from petrochemicals, not a citrus oil.
** New strings of your choice. Service includes up to $20 for a set of 6 strings, higher cost strings will add the additional cost to the service.
Testimonials
What our clients have said
I am the very happy owner of the the blue Vester Maniac guitar that Richard has brought back to life, i bought this guitar when i was 16, 30 plus years ago, in that time it has never had any maintenance apart from strings, i was/am super impressed by Richards care of my Guitar and will recommend his services too all, I also attended his work shop on guitar setup and learnt quite a lot in a small amount of time, a must for all people wanting to learn Guitar setup, and GREAT coffee too!!
Thank you so much Richard
Highly recommend!!! Richard not only fixed my guitars intonation issue but helped me understand why the issue was happening and gave tips to maintain the guitar for years to come! Felt like I was in good hands start to finish.
Great customer service, left my guitar on Sunday and I got it back with the repairs on the following day.
Thanks
Thanks
Richard provides detailed analysis of guitar problems and a swift repair. Guitar students at our school have great things to say about his friendly service. He's studied guitar repair and building here in NZ and overseas upskilling himself with new repair techniques over the many years I've known him. He's a player and also understands our needs!
Richard was great at walking me through the steps of how to adjust my bass. I had looked online but the in-person approach of watch then try was great. It's given me the confidence to better maintain my own equipment rather than needing to use a shop. The advantage is I can also adjust to suit my playing style rather than getting a generic set-up.
He also identified some issues with my acoustic bass an offered to do some repairs at a very reasonable price. That bass now looks as good as it plays.
