It's not what you think it is!
Become a luthier, I thought. Get to work on lots of guitars, I thought. Teach people to look after their own instruments, I thought. So how many guitars have I worked on this month so far? One.
Starting a business doing a thing, is not lots of doing the thing. It's lots of other things; networking, marketing, blogging, social media posting, admin, finance, following up on all of those things, because other people have lives too.
I know this, this isn't my first rodeo, but it doesn't make it any easier, nor less frustrating.
So what have I done this week? Network grinding mainly, but it is paying off. Tomorrow I see a potential long term, repeat customer, a school head of music. During the week, I touched base with three of the four music shops in Wellington (Someone once said it takes seven repeats, before you or your business gets to top of mind).
So next week, I plan to do more of the same, including the Ngaio repair cafe on Saturday 21st September. If you want a free guitar setup or you have an instrument in need of repair, that's the day.
If you can't make Saturday, then the next Guitar Set Up Class is Saturday 28th September, tickets through eventfinder.
Have a great week,
Richard
